Coal Network Update for Friday, April 25, 2025

Date
Apr 25, 2025

OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE
The operation is delivering strong, consistent overall service performance across the network. Average car velocity increased by over five percent from the previous week and by more than eight percent compared to the last month. Additionally, we achieved the highest single-day car velocity of the year in the past week. Terminal dwell has decreased from the previous week and is now nearly five percent below the average for March. Our local service compliance measure stands at 92% and continues to improve month over month.

SERVICE EXPECTATIONS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD
Severe thunderstorms are forecasted for the Texas South Plains today and Saturday, with heavy rain and increased risks of flooding, hail, and tornadoes. BNSF teams are monitoring the situation for potential service impacts. Additionally, we are surveilling dry conditions in the Southwest, where strong winds paired with low humidity will continue to pose an elevated fire weather risk through early next week.

Across much of the BNSF network, favorable operating conditions are expected throughout the upcoming week.
